Ok so today's Dad-Venture was completely spontaneous. I found myself at Highpoint Shopping Centre yet again in search of a birthday present when I got distracted by the big illuminated sign of 'Dumplings Plus.'
It was calling my name to come closer, so I invested in 10 chicken and pork dumplings (yes, dumplings are an investment). Dumplings Plus is by far the busiest outlet at Highpoint. Like a food zoo, you can actually watch the dumplings being made "fresh". The line is super long to if you want a table, but the front of house staff are logistical geniuses and will find you a seat in no time!
The dumplings are tasty. They are lightly fried and each bite has a juiciness that is like liquid gold. Word of warning though: They are packed with garlic! Anyone that complains about you smelling afterwards...well you just don't need that negativity in your life.
It didn't stop there though. As i was watching the glorious dumpling handicraft I know that I needed to try the Xiaolongbao dumplings. These dumplings look more rounded and are colloquially called Moneybags. I let the dumplings sit to cool down and then placed the first one whole in my mouth. The thin skin sat on my tongue and then burst with soupy goodness. This is an experience you need to have people.
I was in a bit of a rush so I closed up my takeaway order and literally ate the rest of my dumplings in the car. They are amazing. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes at Dumplings Plus.
My verdict: WORTH IT for 10 dumplings for $11.80.
