As promised, in celebration of nearly hitting triple figure followers on Zomato..it's double upload day. And tonight, it was time to hit Afghan Star with my beloved cousin Jake and his girlfriend Jana.
Afghan Star is located in the heart of Sunshine, and if you can overlook the outdated decor then you may be in for a little treat (that's a big maybe by the way).
I ordered the mixed kebab which came with lamb, mince, chicken skewers and a healthy portion of Biryani rice. As an Afghan beginner I would say the cuisine has similarities from both Turkish and Indian cultures (if that offends anyone in any culturally/culinary conflicting way then I apologise...sort of).
Like, if Turkey and India had a food baby... It would be Afghan. The meat is juicy, the spices spicy and the Afghan bread was fluffy and delicious.
What I love about Afghan Star is the little complimentary chicken soup they give you before the mains. The soup reminds me of every single 'hay fever cold' I had as a kid, and the flavours took me right back to my childhood. It was real cool. All in all, Afghan Star gets the basics right and does it well.
Afghan Star boasts tasty, traditional dishes that are well worth it for a cheap eat and a new experience. I liked it and am always down to try new and exciting things like this!
My verdict: WORTH IT for mains priced at $14.99.
